It’s October!
“October is the treasure of the year,
And all the months pay bounty to her store…”
~ Paul Lawrence Dunbar
We aren’t quite sure whether to yell, “It’s October! in anticipation of fall foliage and all the deliciousness of cozy comfort food or, “Yikes people, it’s October! Where has the year gone?” We’ll choose both, and…
There’s so much to share. Last month we briefly mentioned our interview with Joy from The Book LovHers Club—it is aptly titled “Golden.” We had so much fun spending time with her talking about our books and so much more. Join us for one of our last interviews of the year on Instagram Live, October 7 at 7:30pm ET with Tabitha, founder and cohost of Reigning Words NYC Book Club. Interviews have been one of our favorite ways to share book news and connect with listeners. We hope you enjoy them and support the folks who work hard to spotlight a broad array of authors.

We will be live October 7 at 7:30 ET.
Drum roll please…our short story, “The Fairy Tale We had to Write Ourselves,” was published in the inaugural issue of BRICK! The BRICK zine pays homage to the first brick thrown during the Stonewall uprising and offers a literary space for queer expression. It is edited by Brandon Rashad Butts (@b_rad.books) and may be purchased at Charm City Books.
A few weeks ago, we had the opportunity to learn from and be in community with fellow writers at stunningly beautiful Zigbone Farm. The writers’ retreat was facilitated by Eugenia Kim, an author, teacher, and kind soul who chopped up the first ten pages of Jael’s Story. 😳 Nonetheless, we will be better writers having experienced her wit and brilliance for five days.
2027 is on the horizon and our schedule is still shaping up. We know our first event in the new year will be ReadOUT 2027. It’s always a fun time with many, many sapphic authors. In its 10th year, we anticipate nothing but good vibes.
Join us in acknowledging Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Our second novel, Why Not Us?, continues the story of Jasmine and T and how they show love for a best friend with cancer. It highlights what sacrifice and caregiving looks like for the people we love. October is also National Book and LGBTQ+ History Month. The link between books, storytelling, and history thrives when our basic freedoms are safe. If you value books and history, and quite frankly democracy itself, the time is now to use your vote to assert your values.
