Welcome cooler temps, vivid leaf colors, and Sapphic September!
We also welcome watching the menagerie of elite athletes at the U.S. Open, FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup, exciting NWSL matches, and scorching hot WNBA season careening toward the playoffs. All of it is incredibly entertaining.

In addition to Bingo, there’s a huge Black Sapphic Book Lovers virtual event—THE BOOK LOVHERS BOOK FEST—occurring September 19 and 20. We were interviewed by the creator of the “Book LovHers Club” podcast and we’re sharing the festival information with you. The weekend promises to introduce you to a wider selection of Black sapphic authors.
Last month, we mentioned having had the honor of being on the “Writing While BLACK Podcast.” What we didn’t share was that from the jump, there was no doubt in our minds how the interview with Angela and Ayoka would turn out because the chemistry was magical. You can watch/listen to it on YouTube or Spotify. The laughs and connection were as real as they sound. This duo has a treasure trove of author interviews—listen, like, and subscribe. If you’re free on Sunday, September 13 from 5-7pm, and near Washington, DC, check out Ayoka at Busboys and Poets Anacostia.
Outside owes us NOTHING this year! We’ve had a wonderful range of experiences vending for the last nine months—from conferences to author showcases to book festivals. (We also got in lots of gardening and some hiking.) We’ve enjoyed meeting many of you and appreciate the love and support for THIS: A Simple, Complex Love Story and Why Not Us? Our final two scheduled activities of the year are later this month, so if we haven’t met IRL, come say, “hello.”

Slow down and enjoy the moment.
As some of us move toward a time of sweaters, comfort food, and shorter days, let’s give ourselves permission to slow down and enjoy the season. Maybe get outside and “touch grass.”
What’s cooking?
We’re working on book 3. Perhaps not as fast as Naomi wants to, but it’s in progress nonetheless. We’ve included an inspiration pic. As a tease, sure. It’s also an internal reminder to keep plugging away on Jael’s story and that we can do hard things.
