Community Matters
In our hearts we know that community matters! We know that gathering with like-minded people raises our dopamine level and we get small doses of “that felt good.” We’re encouraging everyone, to the extent that you can or are willing, to seek out community for necessary feel-good sparks.
We were blessed to experience a wonderful community of readers at Enoch Pratt Free Library ─ Light Street Branch. The “Read with Pride” Book Club chose Why Not Us? as their March selection. The thoughtful conversation we had about the book’s characters and themes was deliciously delightful.
Naomi had many glimmer moments, small instances of joy and happiness, at the annual Association of Writers and Writing Programs (AWP26) conference in Baltimore earlier this month. She volunteered a few hours and shared local happenings with attendees. The offsite activities were as rich as the information shared during the conference sessions. A time was had!! Next year’s gathering is slated for Chicago. If you’ve ever thought about engaging with the writing industry, consider attending.
We’ve had a wonderful surge of new friends graciously join our community. We promise to respect your time and space and will not inundate your inbox. And, we would love to hear from you─touch base if something resonates with you.
Punxsutawney Phil was quite accurate in his prediction of more winter this year…grrr. A week ago, we had snow, rain, sunshine, and tornado alerts. However, spring-like weather will be here soon! We know this because the Spring Equinox just passed, it’s Rivers’ favorite time of the year (March Madness), and the annual Philadelphia Flower Show was a few weeks ago. Naomi’s pilgrimage to Philly is akin to an enthusiastic child going to Disney World. This year’s theme was “Rooted,” an exploration and celebration of how gardening traditions are imported from various countries and passed down to create “American” gardening. Gotta love Philly and their low-key snark.
We have a few upcoming activities. If you’re in the area, come say “Hello.”

Check out our latest podcast appearance with Dr. Rhonda Lawson in the Horizons Author Lounge. It was wonderful to connect with another female veteran. After watching, hit the “Like” button and share the video with a few friends.
Finally…a huge thank you to everyone who has encouraged us. We made the top 100 Amazon list in LGBTQ+ Family Life Fiction. We could not have done this without your support!
Here’s to Spring springing!
