Protests and Parades... Happy Pride!
Greetings Friends,
This month, we’re celebrating and sharing all that we love about Pride. We continue to salute Marsha P. Johnson and remain grateful for her courage and activism alongside others who were present at the Stonewall Inn on June 28, 1969. And contrary to what some people want… cue Jennifer Holliday… we’re not going anywhere AND we’re celebrating!
We have wonderful author events planned each week this month. Hopefully we can meet outside somewhere. On June 7th we will be in Tampa on an author's panel sharing our publishing journey with the good people at Kitchen Table Literary Arts. On June 14th, we’re marching in Baltimore’s Pride Parade and participating in a Juneteenth Festival at Woodlawn Library. June 21st we’re taking part in Black Writers Pride; there will be artists, crafts, and authors at St. Mary’s Park in Baltimore. Rounding out the month, on June 28 we’re participating in a “Voices of Queer Fiction” Pride Panel at the North Point Branch Library in Dundalk. It’s the first ever Pride event there… send good vibes!
There’s more good news – we have our editor’s feedback for our next novel, Why Not Us? We’re busy incorporating her recommendations and look forward to sharing it with you all this fall. When you’re ready for what we think is a good book and a warm drink, we hope you have Why Not Us? in hand or on your reading device. A prequel is available on BookFunnel.
A few more things…
Don’t let up, continue to reach out to your legislators about dangerous policies that are being proposed. Remember, WE are the people! Consider using “5 Calls,” a platform to stay abreast of what's happening in the White House and Congress and easily make our voices heard. They provide summaries of ongoing issues as well as suggested scripts. Download "5 Calls" from the App or Play Store or access it on a computer to contact your representatives and senators.
We’re closing this out with joy, joy, joy. Send us your Pride celebration photos and we’ll share them with everyone next month.
Turn up and out!
