We are our sisters’ keeper!

We’ve gained new friends after recent podcasts and interviews. Welcome and thank you for joining us! It’s our hope to share universal, heartwarming stories.

We wanted to start with book news this month but somehow it doesn’t feel quite right to fully celebrate when many folks here in the U.S. are struggling because of the foolishness of our elected officials. We acknowledge your challenges and concerns and hope this list of resources can help you or your family. If you’re outside of the DMV and need resources, please reach out, we may be able to connect you with resources in your local area. Let’s collectively strive to help someone or an organization working with individuals/families in need. There are many ways to use your talent and share your treasure such as supporting organizations like Common Cause.

What else is new?

We participated in a wonderful interview with Nicole Young-Martin of Black Writers Read, whose “…mission is to celebrate and foster a deeper appreciation for the remarkable talent emerging from… writers of the African Diaspora.” We laughed a lot during our wide-ranging conversation that included writing, Baltimore, chosen family, and handling your business, i.e. proactively ensuring your important paperwork is in order.

More good news…

Not only do we have an official Why Not Us? release date, November 11, 2025, we’ve gotten our first 5-star review. An ARC (Advance Reader Copy) reviewer shared details AND created the cutest vision board! Join us for our launch party on November 14 from 5-7pm at the Charm City Cultural Cultivation Center (Zora’s Den), 3100 Greenmount Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21218. We’ll have prizes, do a reading, and sign books. Can’t make it? We’ll miss you however, Why Not Us? is also available for pre-order at a discounted rate until Monday, November 10.

We’re grateful for “I Heart SapphFic” creating a page for Why Not Us? Thank you! Also, check out our upcoming shenanigans on our newly minted Events page.

Finally…

This is worth repeating since many queer, sapphic, and/or LGBTQIA+ books are being released now through the holiday season, there are at least three free and easy ways to support authors. Ask your local library system to include your favorite books in circulation; follow/like authors on social media; and write reviews (remember to be kind).

Sending love and light,

Naomi + Rivers
