So long summer :(

That was fast! And just like that, this year’s Pride celebrations, sun-soaked community gatherings, and pool parties are now precious memories. Students have returned or are returning to the classroom and the days are getting shorter. Sigh.

Welcome and thank you to our newest friends. We delighted in meeting many of you at recent book festivals and are thankful you signed up for our newsletter. One wonderful new friend, Kelly, gifted us a beautiful, handcrafted book pin and bracelet at “Spark in the Park,” a festival that celebrated Bookstore Romance Day sponsored by Park Books in Severna Park, MD!

We cannot ignore what’s happening in the U.S. Fascists and other factions want to determine what books we read, what is newsworthy, who gets to speak, and whose humanity is worth protecting. They want us to shrivel and cower in a corner. They want us to be silent. NO! Not on our watch.

Instead, we encourage you to support a variety of authors and genres, seek community, stay engaged, support causes you care about, and keep reading. Books we’ve recently read:

  • You Were Almost Home by L.M. Bennett

  • Good Dirt by Charmaine Wilkerson

  • Bemused by Farrah Rochon

  • All Her Little Secrets by Wanda M. Morris

Check out the reviews on Goodreads. It’s easier than ever to support authors, you can follow/like them on social media, write reviews, and encourage local library systems to include their books in circulation.

And finally…

As we say in the military, “nothing focuses the mind like a deadline.” So, we’ve made it official. Our next novel, Why Not Us?, will be released on Veterans Day, November 11, 2025. We’re planning a launch party and a few pop ups—if you’re in the DMV, we hope you’ll be able to join us. Stay tuned for details.

We’re also collaborating with Cherrie Woods, “PR Guru for Authors,” to maximize the reach of what we think is a heartwarming story.
